With the rise of social media platforms and the increasing demand for digital content, there are plenty of opportunities to build a following and monetize your content. Here's what you need to know to get started:

01. Stop posting random stuff- Find your niche:
This one seems obvious but it is ESSENTIAL for your account and community growth. Before you post anything always ask yourself first: "If this is the first thing someone sees when they click on my profile am I happy with it and does it represent me correctly?". The key to success as an influencer is finding a niche that you're passionate about and that resonates with your audience. Whether it's fashion, beauty, travel, or something else entirely, focus on creating content that speaks to your unique perspective. I recommend sticking to 2-3 niches (no you don't have to focus on just 1 that's almost impossible if you have more hobbies). You can also post different content on different platforms (for example more aesthetic fashion and beauty content on Instagram, funny and daily vlogs on TikTok and tips and inspo on Pinterest).
02. Take the mental switch-Build your "brand" not a personal account: Once you've identified your niche, it's time to start building your brand. Stop seeing your social media account(s) as a personal diary- if you want to become an influencer or do this full-time one day/ earn money with monthly partnerships you have to make this mental switch in your head. I recommend to sit down one day and brainstorm what "your brand" is about and what values you want to reflect online. What's your target audience? Who do you want to reach with your content and help? To clarify: I don't want you to change anything about yourself or what you organically and personally want to post about. Rather change the approach and your perspective in 2024.
This also means creating a consistent aesthetic across all of your social media platforms and developing a strong voice that sets you apart from other influencers in your space. You don't have to invent the wheel again but try to stick to similar colors, editing style and fonts.
03. Grow your following-but HOW lol?!: "The more followers you have, the more valuable you are to brands looking to partner with influencers". WROOOONG. I work with brands and creators on both ends and let me tell you- businesses could care less about a specific amount of following but more about your insights and how often your audience clicks on links and websites. Their goal is to make money or create buzz around a new product launch. Yes, it defintely helps to have more followers (some brands only start working with creators with 10K> followers) but this is not the goal. It helps way more to get your analytics up trust me. Many times smaller creators in our network earned more money through collabs and got accepted than bigger influencers because their engagemenr rate was higher and they generated the brand more sales.

My tip:
Focus on creating high-quality content that engages your audience and encourages them to share your posts with their own followers. Go the extra mile with brands when you submit content and only accept campaigns that speak to you and your audience. Additionally, always make sure to intereact with your followers (answer DMs, comments, be active with your account, create story polls, go live etc.).
04. Monetize your content: There are several ways to make money as an influencer, including sponsored posts, affiliate marketing, and selling digital products like e-books or courses. Experiment with different monetization strategies to find what works best for you. As for getting paid brand deals, the key is building relationships with brands in your niche and demonstrating the value that you can bring to their campaigns.
Be proactive in reaching out to brands that align with your values and create compelling pitches that showcase your unique perspective. You can also start working with a marketing agency that represents you and reaches out to brands on your behalf (we heard Social Muse Agency is pretty cool) or invest in your knowledge and career with our Content Creator Crash Course.
